This morning Dutch heart patients along with clinical cardiologists will be on a mission against Heart Failure during a 55-km fundraising tour on TANDEM cycles. Teams of cardiologists and patients will jointly ride tandem bikes, as to symbolize the team effort to reduce disease burden in heart failure.
Among the participants will be patients who have suffered advanced heart failure, some of them in active treatment by LVAD and post-transplant patients, all from the Heart Failure unit at the University Medical Center Utrecht. Apart from raising over EUR 16.000 of sponsored funds for Heart Failure research (www.projectgroephardfalen.nl) , this 55-km bike run will demonstrate the effects of recent advances in heart failure research and treatment .
The event will begin at 9:00 at the University Medical Center Utrecht and the bike run will lead to the ESC Congress venue at the RAI Amsterdam arriving in the early afternoon.
